The Blake Lively Journalist and Going Viral in This Climate
From Blake Lively to Anne Hathaway, the flex isn't what you think itis
Last week you probably saw another video from film journalist Kjersti Flaa go viral. The journo, whose initial claim to fame came during the press tour for This Ends With Us when a previous interview of her and actress Blake Lively had the actress not acting so personable when Flaa asked a question. The whole event seemed to cement people’s perceptions of Lively as unlikable. But then, last week, another interview of Flaa’s started disseminating on social media, this time of a previous interaction with Anne Hathaway that apparently saw Hathaway’s publicist reach out to Flaa and give a public apology.
Most people who have seen Flaa’s interviews have sided with her. These are presumably clear-cut moments of an actor on a press tour not wanting to engage with a journalist or having no sense of humor. And, for the Lively video, I’d have said yes. But there was something about the Hathaway one that made me wonder if this was a case of a journo trying to use their infamy to self-promote, and it sets a bad precedent in a world where access to celebrities is becoming harder and harder for professional entertainment writers.
